Sculptures out of Book Pages? That’s a first!
A picture is worth a thousand words. There is no doubt that you heard this quote so many times that you are about to navigate away from this blog post and never visit this website again. Honestly, I would do the same thing.
Now that we know how much a picture is worth, how much does a book of 100,000 words worth?
That was the question (I just made that up) that the artist Jodi Harvey-Brown attempted to answer by making sculptures out of books’ pages. From the result, we understood that these words can only be priceless.
The passion in art as well as in reading helped the artist to come up with the brilliant idea to bring her favorite books to life. When Jodi takes a second-hand book in her hands, it is transformed into a story which is unfolded in front of your eyes in 3D and gives you the feeling that these books have finally the chance to live again but this time in more dimensions.
Just like in fairy tales and movies where the characters of the book come to life starting new adventures, these book sculptures definitely give you a similar (and kinda unease) feeling. Among the book sculptures one can find familiar fictional characters together with mythical monsters, ships and aircrafts.
Imagine how these magnificent book sculptures would look as part of a very unique bookself.
If she can do it, I can do it!
Fortunately, the artist does not offer any courses since the students during the tutorials would destroy an entire library in their attempt to make something that might remind someone of book sculptures. For the sake of books existence, kids (and not only) do not try this at home or at school.
